There comes a time when we make the decision that we want to become stronger, leaner and create a body that is more capable of the physical and cardio requirements necessary to function each day
In order to create a body that is more athletic we need to train and eat like an athlete.
Our focus should be on burning fat and building lean muscle through a better diet, cardiovascular exercise and weight training.
If you are just getting started or already on your journey to a better and healthier body there are four tips that can help you reach your goal.
1. Focus on specific body movements.
In order to create a stronger body, you will need to integrate into your routine three planes of motion: movement that requires turning, twisting, side-to side movement and rotation. These movements should mirror your natural movement patterns and will add intensity and variety to your workouts. We recommend HIIT & Flow as it is high intensity, interval based and mirrors your body’s normal movements.
2. Add flexibility
Working out will initially create a strain on your body. To avoid injury you should work to gain flexibility and mobility early on in your training program. Make sure you start every training with a period of stretches to give your body and muscles a chance to warm up.
Yoga is a great way to add flexibility and mobility to your routine. It requires strength, balance, flexibility and endurance. If you haven’t given Yoga a try you will be surprised at the strength required to finish a class. Try to incorporate this 2-5 times per week.
3. Perform compound exercise. Make sure you add squats, lunges, push-ups, rows, step ups and deadlifts to work major muscle groups. These exercises will help you build more muscle mass and burn more fat.
4. Make sure you don’t skip breakfast.
You know the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast provides the energy your body needs to start your day and gets your metabolism started.
If you eat the right breakfast, meaning avoid the sugary cereals and eat fruit or proteins like eggs you will be less hungry the rest of the day.
Eating a healthy breakfast can also help keep you on track throughout the rest the day to continue to eat healthy.
